The 2010 Winter Olympic Games will be held in Vancouver and Whistler, BC, from Friday, February 12 through Sunday, February 28. The 2010 Paralympic Games will take place from Friday, March 12 through Sunday, March 21. Due to official security restrictions put in place for the events, the service we provide to these areas through our Canadian affiliate, TST Overland Express, will be affected.
During the Games, access by commercial vehicles to parts of Vancouver, Whistler and Richmond, BC, will be restricted. Normal pickup and delivery operations of all commercial transportation vehicles to these restricted areas will be significantly affected. For more information about delivering goods and services during the Games, visit the Vancouver 2010 website.
Pickups and deliveries to the downtown core of Vancouver and parts of Richmond, BC, will be restricted to the hours of midnight through 6 a.m., resulting in after-hours pickup and delivery charges (see EXLA 105, items 750-50 and 754). There will be no commercial vehicle access of any kind to venue locations, and trucks will be restricted to designated routes. Truck route details can be found on the City of Vancouver’s website.
Access by commercial vehicles to the entire village of Whistler, BC, will be restricted to the hours between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., resulting in after-hours pickup and delivery charges (see EXLA 105, items 750-50 and 754). Truck size will be limited during this period, and no tractor/trailer units will be permitted. Vehicle standing time for all deliveries will be limited to 15 minutes, necessitating additional labor to unload and deliver larger shipments (see EXLA 105, item 560).
