Shipping Documents Needed

Freight destined for Puerto Rico and the Caribbean Islands requires:

• Bill of Lading [pdf]
• Commercial Invoice [pdf]
• Electronic Export Information (EEI): Replaces the paper version of the Shipper’s Export Declaration (S.E.D.) with electronic filing of export data to the Automated Export System (AES) through AESDirect.

For fast clearance at the local excise department, the following information is required on the Bill of Lading:

• Consignee's name and address, shipper's name, address and Federal Tax ID number or EIN
• Telephone number to notify consignee of shipment arrival
• Commodity description, weight, dimensions or cube, and invoice value
• Specifications as to whether the shipment is prepaid or collect for inland and ocean freight charges

Remember to also include a copy of the shipper's invoice.
