Location: Corporate Office - Richmond, VA

Department: Operations

Job Summary
  • Dispatch Line Haul Drivers via information in computer system and phone communication with terminals in order to get freight moved in a timely manner within our service standards
  • Interacts with other Line Haul Supervisors, Operations Planner, VP of Operations, Breakdown Coordinators and Line Haul Drivers
  • Supervise Line Haul Drivers
  • Plan dispatches to accommodate cost and service goals
  • Identify problems and create solutions
  • Involves 3-6 months on-the-job training
  • Regular attendance is required
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required
Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in the trucking industry, preferably LTL (minimum one year)
  • Dispatch experience (minimum one year)
  • LTL experience with analysis of freight movement, logistics, handling, coordination & scheduling
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation and Safety regulations
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in Ms Word, Excel, Access, TMW Software & PowerPoint
  • Customer Service experience with internal and external customers
  • Good decision making ability & capable of working in a high stress environment
  • Must be self directed with strong analytical & problem solving skills
  • Good geographic knowledge of the United States
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays & in any weather condition
  • Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • High School Diploma or General Educational Degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience; College degree or equivalent work experience in Transportation preferred
  • Responds well to questions. Ability to read and interpret written information and documents such as safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and will be subject to a criminal history background check
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States
  • If a rehire, must be eligible for rehire
